About the Artist
Michael Hughes, “Mike” was born and raised in Hawaii.
As a child, he enjoyed the ocean. He grew up on the West Side of Oahu, playing on the shores of “Puka Pants” beach. His love for the ocean led him to pursue surfing, fishing, and diving around the Hawaiian Islands.
Mike served our country in the United States Armed Forces, where he traveled the world. After serving his country with distinction, he longed for the islands and returned home to his beloved Hawaii.
Unfortunately Mike found himself at the wrong place at the wrong time, which led him to life in prison.
Through this hardship, Mike began to put language to the beautiful memories of his past. He directed his focus on cultivating the artistic gifts that God had given him.
From a small cell in the deserts of Arizona, He gives us a glimpse into his memories of the sea. Peruse the gallery and see his talent come alive from his mind to your heart.
No matter where your journey in life takes you, there is always beauty to be found, love to be shared, and hope to carry you through to the end.
Thank you for your support and aloha.
